Value of Love in Getting Organized
I posted a quick one liner today that said, "The memories of our loved ones rests in our hearts not their stuff." It happens all the time that someone is overwhelmed and suffocating in their home because they have all these things that loved ones gave them or left them and there is an unspoken obligation to keep them. I can't tell you how many times people hold something in their hands and look to me for permission to let it go. They are ok with letting it go but they have a family member on their shoulder, like the little devil and angel, that says you're a bad person for discarding the "memory" of our loved one. The truth is we aren't discarding the loved one or the memory...it's a thing. We are letting go of the thing and honoring the memory of the person by living our lives going forward.
Let's really think about it and I know I have to be careful here because everyone has different beliefs about moving on but let me just say it as I see it. Do you really think our loved ones are hanging out in the after life (where ever you visualize that to be) worrying about whether or not their daughter or son kept that spoon collection or the broken clock they got as a retirement gift. I think not.
We need to live our lives going foward in the moment. The emotional, mental and spiritual weight of stuff keeps us out of the moment and either in yesterday or worrying about tomorrow.
Honor the memory of your loved ones by living your best life possible. That's the best STUFF ever!!
